The Cyclist Underpass exists of 3 sections and was designed by Vroegh-edc. Also the method for installing the middle section with only a clearance of 2.5m with the existing bridge, was thought by Vroegh-edc.

Detailed design and installation method with existing methods from the offshore

Hakkers B.V. received the order for the engineering, fabrication and installation of the cyclist underpass underneath the ‘Aalsmeerderbrug’.

Floating bridge section using Inflatable Buoyancy Units

Vroegh-edc performed the detailed design of the 3 sections. In addition to the design, a method has been developed for installing the middle section under the bridge, with only a clearance of 2.5 meters. This is being executed by making the section floatable using IBU’s (Inflatable Buoyancy Units). Those IBU’s are commonly being used in the offshore industry.

With the knowledge and network relations of Vroegh-edc within the Offshore industry, it was possible to float-in the bridge section with only a clearance of 2.5m.
