Vivian Maier Bridge | Bridge 2062.

As part of the Strandeiland area development in Amsterdam, bridge 2062 – the Vivian Maier Bridge – is being realized. This movable bridge will form an important connection within the future residential and recreational area of IJburg and has been designed with attention to sustainability, aesthetics, and a low environmental impact.

The project Design & Construct Bridge 2062 Vivian Maier Amsterdam has been awarded by the Municipality of Amsterdam to Combinatie Reimert–Beentjes VOF, a collaboration between Reimert Groep, Beentjes GWW and Mercon. Within this partnership, Mercon is responsible for the steel components of the bridge, the movable structure, and the electrical and automation installations.

The activities started in the spring of 2024 with the preliminary design. Completion of the bridge is scheduled for mid-2027.

Shop Drawings – Bridge Deck

Within this project, Vroegh-edc works on behalf of Mercon and is responsible for the 3D modelling and shop drawings of the bridge deck. Both 2D drawings and 3D models are produced for various components of the bridge, including:

  • The west and east bridge sections
  • The west and east ballast boxes
  • Assembly of the bridge structures
  • Bridge railings, including bolted components
  • Installation and lifting provisions
  • Stairs and platforms in the basement

The models and technical drawings prepared by Vroegh-edc form the basis for the work preparation, production, assembly, installation, and coating of the steel bridge components.

Collaboration

The project is carried out in close cooperation with Mercon. Through coordination between our engineering, production and execution teams, we contribute to a well-managed construction process and the high-quality realization of this movable bridge within the development of Strandeiland in Amsterdam.
